How We Came Together

Over the years, local residents have expressed concerns to Saanich Engineering about traffic issues in Strawberry Vale, such as external traffic (i.e. commuters) and traffic speed as a risk to children in the neighbourhood.

In the past, the engineering department was not at all responsive and in fact proposed changes that would have exacerbated the problems we were already facing. Copies of their reports and proposals are on this website.

Casual chats about these issues turned into informal discussions and finally, into a group of concerned residents who want to make sure that we ALL have the chance to work together and advocate for OUR COMMUNITY. The group has been informal, for the most part, and has changed composition as people moved out of the neighbourhood (out of frustration over the traffic issue!) and new people moved in.

In 2006, the Strawberry Vale Residents' Association recognized this issue and lent us support. This has helped us be heard by Saanich Engineering.
